South African WUKF National Championship & Africa Open

We are pleased to announce the 2023 WUKF South African National Championship & Africa Open will take place in Gqeberha (previously known as Port Elizabeth), at the Boardwalk Hotel Luxury Convention Centre from the 30th March to 02nd April.

WUKF Liaison for South Africa and Championship Organiser, Gary Grapentin was delighted to confirm the championship dates and venue. Mr Grapentin is confident that the 2023 edition of the championship will surpass the levels of professionalism achieved at this year’s event. The championship also carries the full-support and endorsement of WUKF President, Prof. Dr Liviu Crisan.

The championship venue will comprise eight tatami floors, each with comfortable seating for spectators and air-conditioning.

In addition, the event will provide the opportunity for athletes, officials, their families, and supporters of WUKF Karate to enjoy an unforgettable experience at this incredible destination.

The Championship will also assist athletes in their preparations for the 11th WUKF World Championship in Dundee, Scotland from the 13th – 16th of July.

Near to the Hotel are some of South Africa’s most beautiful and pristine beaches. Within one hour driving from the city, you will find world class safari parks, as well as Jeffrey’s Bay, the iconic surfers’ paradise.

WUKF Liaison for South Africa and Championship Organiser, Gary Grapentin: “Not only will the Championship consolidate the friendship and camaraderie between WUKF affiliates in South Africa and abroad, but it will also serve as an excellent showcase event for WUKF Karate in this Country.”
